SO….I am officially REALLY broke. BUUUUUUT…I have NO credit card debt AND my Wells Fargo Student Loan is paid off!!!! Luckily, we have not gotten any of our income for this month yet or we would be screwed! I still hope to make a payment on my student loan interest this month after we have gotten all 3 of our paychecks. Hopefully by the end of next month I will have all my interest paid off at that point! WHOOP WHOOP!
So I am 22 years old, soon to be 23. I have always been CRAZY organized and plan things to a tee. So of course, I graduated from a private liberal arts college in 2.5 years with only $12,500 in student loan debt. Sounds great, right? WRONG. My plan got all befuddled and after starting my master’s program, I ended up going back to my undergrad for a physical education teaching licensure. Long story short, I now have $48,000 in student loan debt (including current interest), but I do have 3 workable degrees/licenses.
In addition to that mess, my husband just started his own company and had no income from October-January and I was student teaching from August-Jan, so I had no income as well. So by the end of January we had over $6,000 in debt. THANKFULLY, I just made our last CC payment today and we are out of that debt. But we still have a long way to go. I also made the mistake(misunderstanding) of getting out a private student loan when I started my masters. So that baby has an 8.2% interest rate, which really isn’t all that bad…but I am paying it off this MONTH. WHOOP WHOOP!
Anyway, so that brings us back to our now $44,000 of student loan debt. Also, I have a very unreliable car and would REALLY like a new one! So now I am going to pay off 2 of my highest interest rate SL and all my interest before my loans come out of grace in the middle of June, so that I do not have to pay interest on my interest! If you didn’t know when your loans come out of grace any interest that is already on the loans that has not been paid will be added to your principle balance and you have to pay interest on that too! NO WAY JOSE! I am also going to start throwing as much money as I can into my savings to have a pretty kick-ass down payment for my car by the beginning of September.
My point is that even though I got into a situation FAR from where I intended to be, I am still making a plan to get out of debt as fast as possible. Without really changing much about our regular purchases. We are trying to cut back and follow a budget more closely. But, I am also throwing all our extra money at debt, so I don’t leave us much time to buy things and we have agreed to keep our accounts at a certain dollar amount as well.
I hope that this is successful, and you will just have to follow along to see!
Well, I finally did it! I have thought about starting a blog for a couple of years now. It all started when I got engaged and I thought, “hey! I should start a blog so I can post about all the exciting things happening and all the wedding planning…” Welp, I just celebrated my 1st anniversary at the beginning of the month, so I think you can all guess how that went.
But here I am, I have no clue what I am doing, my page probably looks terrible and will continue to for a month or so until I figure all of this out. But I can tell you this, this blog is going to be my heart and soul. I will give you a glimpse into all of the fun things I do, new things I try, and most importantly try to help you solve any problems you may be having, if I have the knowledge.
All of the pages I have read about starting a blog talk about how you should pick a niche if you want to be successful, but I have never done that before, so why start now? I love to cook, bake, sew, pay bills, plan, organize, paint, diy, dress up, decorate, and all sorts of “GIRLY” stuff, but I also love to play sports, watch sports, hunt, get dirty, go boating, grill, build things, fix things, do woodworking, and all sorts of “BOY” stuff.
I am not your typical 22-year old girl. This will not be your typical blog. So if that is what you are looking for you are in the wrong place. I might not post about the same thing every day, but I can guarantee you that each post will be full of the same amount of passion no matter the topic. I am extremely excited to start this journey, and even if no one ever reads this blog, I will still be ridiculously proud of it because it will be 100% me.
